Korean Organic Green Tea (Sejak Nokcha) - 40g Loose Leaf

Korean Organic Green Tea directly from the family tea farm Damyeongwon in Boseong 보성! Located at the land's end area of Jeolla Namdo province, close to the sea but also in the high mountains, Boseong has long been the perfect location for growing teas.

What's special about this Tea?

Sejak 세작 細雀 are the youngest tea leaves that are harvested between Apr 20th - May 6th every year. Because the leaves are thin and pointed, it is also said that it looks like the tongue of the sparrow and so it also goes by the name Jakseolcha 작설차  .

Sejak Korean green tea has often won international tea awards!

Flavors - are mild, grassy and slightly nutty at first with a very pleasant bittersweet aftertaste. It will have some of the tannin flavor at the end too but compared to many other green teas I've tasted this one seems to have very little of that. The tannin flavor wasn't too strong even after an hour of the tea steeping in water. It also has very minimal 'marine' seaweed like flavor.

Certified Organic - It's actually not easy to find reasonably priced, certified Organic green tea in Korea so this was a great find for me.

What's special about Boseong?

If you visit this area, there are endless tea farms and even a tea museum! This special tea is made by the son and daughter-in-law couple of a 20+ year Boseong Tea farmer. I met the cute couple by chance while browsing a farmers market in Seoul and I was so impressed by the flavor of the tea, I decided to buy some right then and there!
