Korean Napa Cabbage for Kimjang Kimchi - 400 Seeds
Korean Cabbage for Kimjang (Kimjang Baechu 김장배추) is a kind of napa cabbage with very light green leaves and thick white stalks with yellowish center. This cabbage is best suited for making Korean Kimjang Kimchi that can last through the winter.
It is a cool weather annual plant. Sow 3-4 seeds directly in soil about 12-18" apart, in rows 18-30" apart. Plant in an area where the plant can get around 5 hours of direct sun.
This cabbage grows best when planted in Korean summer (July) and harvested in fall (Nov). It can also be planted in spring and harvested early summer.
It grows best in temps 64 - 68 F while the inside of the cabbage fills up best in 59-64 F. It can withstand up to 17 F. It can be sensitive to temperature changes, which can lead to bolting.
Harvest when heads are very firm, about 70-90 days after seedlings sprout.
